Reasons to Visit Austria in 2017

When you’re drowning in wanderlust and are not quite sure where to take your next trip, why not consider Austria? It might not be the first place you think of, but here are some pretty great reasons why you should!

If you’re a ‘Sound of Music’ fan, (and let’s face it, who isn’t?!), you will recognize some of the stunning scenery around Salzburg, where it was filmed. Even better, there is a tour for the movie where you can spot the places you’ve seen on the iconic film, in real life! Singing on hills is optional but encouraged.

There are some pretty exciting and unique festivals in Austria that you might be lucky enough to catch. For example, Bregenzer Festspiele is a music festival with a floating stage! The ImPulsTanz festival sees dancers of all types, ages, and ability coming together for workshops and show, and there is even a “Jazz on the Mountain” offering in the form of the Jazzfestival Saalfelden.

Although most people will head to France if they want to get on the slopes, Austria is a much cheaper place for a skiing holiday, and the views are unbeatable! If you want to ski all day and party all night, Ischgl is known for its nightlife, as well as slopes, so it’s a win-win!

In a time when the world seems a little rocky, Austria is a good place to visit. It has been rated the third most peaceful country in the world, and the fifth safest, so you can relax in the beautiful scenery without worrying too much.

If you are feeling lucky while in Austria, why not pop into one of the casinos and see if you can win big?! Casino Wien, for example, is a stunning building (with very delicious and elegantly presented food!) where players can enjoy a variety of slot machines and table games. The ground floor is more relaxed with no dress code and a lot of slot machines – ideal for a casual afternoon. However, the two upper floors expect a more elegant dress code and are perfect for a big night out sipping casino cocktails. There are several lovely casinos in Vienna alone, not to mention the rest of Austria, so gamblers and gamers will have plenty to do!

Whether you are a skier, a music lover, a casino fan or just love the Sound of Music, it’s easy to see why Austria is such a fantastic place to visit.
